Hey, did you hear about George Gilbey from Gogglebox? Channel 4 put out a emotional tribute for him after he sadly passed away at just 40.
You might remember him from when he first hit our screens back in 2013, chilling with his mum Linda and stepdad Pete on Gogglebox. He even went on Celebrity Big Brother in 2014 and made it to the final, but lost out to Gary Busey.
Essex Police confirmed the news around 10am on Wednesday. There was an accident at Campfield Road in Shoebury, and George was involved. He was working at a height and fell, and despite the air ambulance service rushing to help, he passed away at the scene. So tragic. They’re still looking into it with the Health and Safety Executive. Fans and famous buddies have been sending loads of tributes. Even Channel 4 showed some love on Instagram.
Comfort and Condolences for Linda and George’s Family
In a post, it was stated: “George was a valued member of the Gogglebox family for eight series, appearing alongside his mother Linda and step-father Pete. Sending our thoughts and condolences to Linda, George’s family, and friends during this sad time. They’re asking for some space.”
People quickly jumped in to comfort Linda, especially considering she lost her husband Pete to bowel cancer last year. One person wrote, “Poor Linda, losing her husband and son so close together.
Another person was like, “I can’t believe it. Poor Linda must be feeling so down.” Then someone else wrote, “Rest in peace, George. We loved watching you on Gogglebox. Sending love to Linda too.” And another person said, “No way, RIP George. I hope you’re having a blast with your dad up there. Sending love to Linda, she must be going through a lot.”
Earlier in the day, George’s mate from Celebrity Big Brother, Ricci Guarnaccio, was one of the first to talk about his passing. The former Geordie Star wrote on Instagram, “It breaks my heart but George Gilbey, you’re truly going to be missed, my friend. You always brought so much energy, cared for others, and the memories we shared will be cherished forever, bro. From our time on CBB to our chat last week, I’m gonna miss you big time, my boy. Love you, GG.”
Daniella Westbrook also shared her condolences for George, posting a picture of him with Linda enjoying a drink. She wrote, “He left us too soon. Rest well, my dear friend George. I’m absolutely devastated xxx.”
