Sarah Jessica Parker recently shared that she and her husband, Matthew Broderick, have not spent a single night away from each other in over thirty years.
In a recent interview on The Howard Stern Show, Sarah Jessica Parker, who is 58 years old, reminisced about her “first date” with Matthew Broderick on March 8, 1992. She went on to describe how their relationship has endured ever since that day, with the two of them being together.
During her conversation with Howard Stern, Sarah Jessica Parker shared that she and Matthew Broderick have never spent a night apart since their first date, except for when they were away for work or when he had to take care of his sick mother. From that very first night, they have always been together.
The renowned Sex and the City star also revealed that she quickly developed feelings of love for Broderick early on in their relationship and considered him to be truly amazing.
When Stern asked her about her perception of love, Parker mentioned how she had already admired Broderick before they began dating, expressing her deep appreciation for his work. As they got to know each other, she realized that she genuinely liked him as a person, and she proceeded to highlight some of her favorite qualities about her partner.
“He possesses such intelligence and a great sense of humor. I appreciate his choice of friends, his lifestyle in New York, and what matters to him. I loved observing how he explored the city on his bicycle, a passion he has had since he was 14.”
Parker continued, “He is incredibly intelligent and talented. I found him to be stunningly beautiful, handsome, and charming.”
Parker mentioned that despite their different backgrounds, she and Broderick were raised in similar ways. They shared a common desire to start a family in New York.
“I adore being in my hometown, New York. I wanted to establish a life here, and he was born and raised in the West Village. He has never lived north of 11th Street.”
Broderick and Parker exchanged wedding vows in 1997, five years after their initial date. They are blessed with a son named James, who is 20 years old, as well as twin daughters named Tabitha and Marion, who are 13 years old.
In a previous appearance on Watch What Happens Live in April 2022, Matthew Broderick, known for his role in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, discussed his strong connection with his wife. TV host Andy Cohen asked Broderick when he realized that Sarah Jessica Parker was “the one.”
Broderick replied, “The first time I met her. I saw her walking down the street and thought, ‘That’s it.'”
However, during her conversation with Howard Stern, Parker admitted that they couldn’t start dating when they initially met because they were in separate relationships at the time.
“We were both involved with other people, so it was not possible for us to pursue a relationship. We respected the importance of doing right by our respective partners and chose to stay away from each other,” explained Parker, known for her role in And Just Like That.
She added, “We understood that we needed to end our previous relationships officially before considering anything further.”
The fashion icon says she understands why other people choose to have cosmetic procedures
Sarah Jessica Parker expressed her regret for not getting a traditional facelift when she was in her forties. The famous star of Sex and the City, who is now 58 years old, shared her thoughts on the pressures women face due to ageism.
During an interview on The Howard Stern Show, where she was promoting the second series of the SATC reboot, And Just Like That…, Parker was asked if she still sees herself as attractive when she looks in the mirror.
Her response was humble: “I think I look presentable, but I don’t really enjoy looking at myself. I guess I’m okay.”
Host Howard Stern then inquired whether she had ever considered getting procedures like facelifts or Botox. Parker admitted that she thinks about it and often asks others for their opinion, wondering if it’s too late for such interventions.
When asked if she has ever considered getting plastic surgery, Sarah Jessica Parker responded with a “no.” However, she did mention that she receives treatments from a dermatologist, such as skin peels.
“I’m open to trying any of that stuff… Honestly, I think I missed out on the old-fashioned facelift that you would get when you’re 44,” she shared.
Howard Stern expressed his relief, saying he has seen some unfortunate outcomes from plastic surgery recently. Parker responded by saying she doesn’t hold any judgment against those who choose to undergo cosmetic procedures. She acknowledged that society places a great deal of emphasis on looks, especially for women.
Adding to the conversation, Sarah Jessica Parker emphasized that her main focus is feeling “okay” according to her own standards. She expressed her indifference towards others’ opinions, stating that she doesn’t care enough about them.
“When I step out the door, I want to feel okay based on how I perceive myself. I can’t even define what those standards are,” she explained. “But you know that feeling when you truly feel like yourself, whatever that means. I do have some vanity, but I simply don’t care enough about what everyone else thinks.”
In a previous interview with Vogue France, Parker discussed her perspective on aging, mentioning that she gets the impression that people are more concerned about her appearance than she is. She expressed her unwillingness to conform to others’ expectations, saying, “I can’t be the person others expect me to be.”
Power of Upcycling Outfits
Sarah Jessica Parker made a powerful fashion statement in the season two premiere of And Just Like That. In this revival of the beloved series Sex and the City, Parker, who portrays the character Carrie Bradshaw, showcased the art of upcycling by reusing one of her most iconic outfits: a lavish Vivienne Westwood wedding dress.
Carrie Bradshaw originally wore this stunning gown in the first Sex and the City movie when her character was jilted at the altar by Mr. Big (played by Chris Noth).
In the premiere episode of the new season, the characters prepare for the highly anticipated Met Gala, which is known as the fashion industry’s biggest event.
In the episode, Bradshaw enlists the help of a promising designer named Smoke to create her outfit for the Met Gala, which has a theme of “Veiled Beauty.” However, due to a series of mishaps, the planned outfit doesn’t fit properly.
Faced with this dilemma, Bradshaw decides to search her extensive wardrobe for a backup option. And what could be more suitable for the veiled theme than her iconic wedding dress?
In the episode, Bradshaw expresses, “I might have something. I’ve only worn it once. It’s not the most pleasant memory.”
She ultimately dons the voluminous strapless gown by Vivienne Westwood, complete with the original blue feathered headpiece, a veil, and a turquoise cape created by Smoke.
