Akira Toriyama, the Japanese manga artist who created Dragon Ball, passed away last Friday at the age of 68 due to an acute subdural hematoma, according to his studio. Akira Toriyama death was announced on Thursday by Dragon Ball’s official X account. Which shared a statement from Bird Studio and Capsule Corporation Tokyo. The company that owns the franchise’s anime and gaming rights.

The statement expressed regret that Toriyama had several works in progress and much enthusiasm for more creations. It mentioned that he left behind many manga titles and artworks for the world to remember him by.

So, there’s this guy named Akira Toriyama, born in Nagoya, Japan back in 1955. In 1984, he dropped Dragon Ball on us, telling the story of Goku and the crew. It blew up big time and became one of the top anime things ever. Toriyama’s still at it, keeping Dragon Ball going strong.
