On March 5, Garrison was found dead in his home in Flagstaff, Arizona at age 25. Janelle announced the news on Instagram, saying, Kody and I are deeply saddened by the loss of our beautiful boy, Robert Garrison Brown. He brought joy to everyone who knew him. His loss leaves a big hole in our lives. Please respect our privacy as we honor his memory. Kody shared the same message on his Instagram. Flagstaff Police confirmed that Garrison brother, Gabriel, found him dead in an apparent suicide. Authorities do not suspect foul play, and they are continuing their investigation.
Fans first met Garrison in 2010 on a TLC show about his polygamist family, including his mom Janelle, dad Kody, and Kody other wives Meri, Christine, and Robyn. Janelle and Kody had six kids together. In 2022, Janelle and Kody split, following Christine departure. Meri also left, leaving Robyn as Kody’s only wife. Kody relationship with his sons, especially Gabriel and Garrison, soured over disagreements about COVID-19 handling. Gabriel felt ignored, and Janelle worried about her boys mental health. In a 2023 episode, Kody acknowledged losing touch with Gabriel and Garrison, expressing hope for reconciliation, but they showed no interest.
Death Confirmed
In an autopsy report obtained by PEOPLE on May 15, the Coconino County Medical Examiner confirmed that the 25-year-old died from a gunshot wound to the head. Authorities ruled his death as a suicide. The report notes a contributing factor in his death was ethanol intoxication, otherwise known as alcohol poisoning. Per the autopsy, Garrison’s blood alcohol level was .307% based on his iliac blood analysis and .370% based on his vitreous analysis. In the U.S., the legal limit is .08%, and anything above .40% is potentially fatal. Garrison also had traces of caffeine in his system at the time of his death.
At the time, the Flagstaff Police Department confirmed to people they responded to a report of a death inside a home and confirmed that his brother Gabriel, 22, had discovered Mr. Brown deceased in an apparent suicide. Lieutenant Charles M. Hernandez II of the Flagstaff Police Department continued in a statement shared with PEOPLE. At this time there is not any indication of foul play, and Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division are investigating.
