40 Cheating Hacks That Deserve an A+ for Creativity

If you have a difficult class or find the subject challenging, it may seem tempting to opt for a simpler solution. However, it is not recommended to resort to cheating because of the potential consequences. Nonetheless, some of the methods used to cheat are incredibly innovative, although we don’t condone them. If someone manages to cheat successfully on an exam, perhaps they deserve some credit for their cleverness.

Sneaky But Smart

During your time in school, cheating used to involve actions like peeking at a fellow student’s examination paper or imitating a friend’s homework. However, cheating has grown more complicated in today’s world. With the assistance of technology, cheating has become a lot more prevalent and significantly easier to carry out.

Some students resort to cheating during exams by utilizing their mobile phones. They achieve this by saving notes on their phones and discreetly accessing them while in class. So, how do they manage to have a phone in class? Well, they conceal their cellphones in hidden compartments inside their books. It’s quite cunning, don’t you think?

Hydrate

It’s important for us all to stay hydrated, especially during exams. If your teacher is considerate enough to permit drinks on desks and you have a juice box, you can make use of it by transforming it into a place to hide your cheat sheets.

It would be an excellent plan, as it allows you to sneak in prohibited notes and stay hydrated while excelling in your exam. If that’s not brilliant, we are not sure what is!

Underhanded Hack

At times, you may have a shortage of staff and require assistance. As you can see, we cleverly inserted a pun that may not be feasible for the majority of students, yet it is still quite ingenious.

The nursing student in question utilized a mannequin to glance at his phone during the examination in an endeavor to earn a few additional points. We sincerely wish that he will not become our caregiver in the future.

We Won’t Rule it Out

Do you have a ruler available? You can simply write on a regular wooden ruler using a pencil, which is easily visible if you pay attention, but can easily go unnoticed if you don’t.

Avoid using a pen as it leaves a permanent mark that may not be reusable for future tests, and also increases the risk of being caught if the writing is too noticeable. Make sure to flip your paper over as your teacher approaches to remain cautious.

Computer, Calculator, What’s The Difference?

We can all relate to the experience of arriving at a test feeling unprepared and knowing that we are about to fail. Therefore, it’s important to understand the distinction between a computer and a calculator.

The student replaced the internal parts of his calculator with his smart cell phone which allowed him to search for answers on Google during the exam without arousing suspicion by pretending to make calculations.

Vitamins for Your Brain

The student put in a significant effort to accurately reproduce a Vitamin Water label. They achieved this by replacing the usual nutritional details with printed test responses.

It’s possible that he could have utilized that time for studying, but he likely had valid justification for not doing so! Undoubtedly, it’s one of the most imaginative tricks we’ve observed up to now. Despite not dedicating enough time to studying for his exam, his clever approach merits an A!

‘Cough Cough’

The brilliance of this approach was in changing the person who was responsible for studying. As a Reddit user recounted, during their middle school years, they depended on a single student who actually put in effort to study.

The quizzes given by our teachers were mostly in a multiple choice format. A unique way of answering the questions was adopted by the students i.e., coughing for option A, sniffing for option B, sighing for option C, and stretching for option D. Gradually, every student in my science class became the ‘that kid’ and when there was a quiz, a different person would study diligently.

Double Notes

Wow, what a dedication! This intelligent student discovered a way that was not exactly cheating by exploiting a loophole since a few professors permit students to use just one note card as a reference during an examination.

He wrote his notes using red and blue colors in layers and used a 3D glasses to separate each color. As a result, he had twice as many notes as his classmates, but this method did not involve cheating.

Shoes to the Rescue

Make sure to wear appropriate footwear as it could help you during the test. It’s highly unlikely that the teacher will inspect your shoes for cheating materials, therefore, it’s a good idea to note down all the necessary information and refer to it whenever necessary.

If you sit at the correct angle, it will appear natural and easy. If done correctly, shoe companies could make a great profit selling comfortable footwear that allows for proper posture.

Eat the Evidence

During a particular biology examination, a student opted to jot down all his study material onto tiny pieces of chewing gum. Later, when he was done with those notes, he started consuming the pieces one by one to eliminate the evidence.

We can understand your thoughts, that this student may have consumed a large quantity of gum. However, is having a bowel obstruction worth achieving a good grade on the test? We assume it varies according to one’s perspective.

Pen Scribbles

This cheating technique requires only two items: a pen and a small sheet of paper. It’s a traditional way of cheating in which you jot down the answers on a small piece of paper and insert it inside the pen.

By discreetly clicking the pen, the item can be eliminated during the examination. However, caution is required, since the teacher may come around to inspect the students, but it could prove helpful.

Screenshot Saver

It’s common to find that the younger generation tends to understand modern technology better than the older generation and can utilize it effectively. This is demonstrated when students’ proficiency with technology can surpass that of their teachers.

During the exam, a student opt to take screenshots of the answers and forward them to their peers in the subsequent session. This process is uncomplicated and convenient; one only needs to take a screenshot and share it with their friends.

Nail Art Notes

There are individuals who possess great skill in creating nail art. Although it may appear as a beautiful design from a distance, upon closer inspection, it actually includes all the necessary information for an exam. It would require one to write incredibly small, but if this can be accomplished and still legible, it results in a successful strategy.

Instead, it could be considered a deceptive strategy that might go unnoticed by many educators. Therefore, it may be worth attempting, as they are unlikely to suspect it.

Scrolling Past

The teacher felt conflicted between being angry or amazed when they came across a student who had cleverly created a miniature scroll of paper with notes written on it and concealed it within a wristwatch. Despite the fact that tests are crucial, educators often reward pupils for their inventiveness and ability to work independently. Therefore, it’s understandable why the instructor was somewhat reluctantly impressed with this student’s ingenuity.

By rotating the timepiece, he managed to revolve the parchment. Though he was discovered, the teacher couldn’t resist being amazed by his ability to think outside the box.

A Nervous Tic

This particular task may require some preliminary arrangements. Begin by wrapping a rubber band around a textbook and inscribing whatever you desire on it. When you remove the rubber band from the book, the markings will appear as meaningless scribbles unless you stretch it out to reveal what’s written. You can attribute this trick to the frustration caused by complicated Math Formulas that often lead to questionable actions.

Make sure to develop a routine of playing with a rubber band during class, so that on test day, it will appear as if you have a nervous habit rather than doing something unusual.

Textbook Notes

If you have a class that allows you to bring one sheet of handwritten notes to exams, you can create a font of your own handwriting and print as much of your textbook or study guide onto a piece of notebook paper, front, and back.

You could even set the font color to pencil grey and manage to get the margins and spacing exactly right to look like it’d been handwritten. it’s not cheating per se but it is a clever hack!

Book-Ring

How clever is this ring of knowledge? You can write down all the notes you need in the little book on your ring and to keep it hidden, simply turn the ring so that your little book of notes is facing down and out of sight from your teacher’s eyes.

Even if you don’t cheat on tests, the ring is pretty cute and when a moment of genius hits, you can look no further than the ring to jot down whatever you need!

Kleenex

Well, it doesn’t get much more unoriginal than this. But then again, it’s been around for some time so maybe there’s some luck to this method. If acting is your strong point, the Kleenex notebook is the way for you.

Write your notes before the test on a single tissue of Kleenex and then keep it in your pocket. When you get into the class, sniffle, cough, and sneeze as you would when you have a cold, and you’re on your way to an A.

Wrappers

Well, this is one way to do it. It’s definitely a method that takes determination. Nothing odd about a pile of candy wrappers on the desk, right? This girl would bring candy into the exam, because she would need the sugary goodness for energy.

She had unwrapped all the candy wrappers and wrote key points on the inside of each of them, then re-wrapped them. So, it may have looked like she was just eating some candy, but she was actually just looking for answers. Very crafty!

Band-Aid

Everyone knows that cheaters never prosper, but that doesn’t stop people from trying. In fact, some students are willing to put in more effort into finding ways to avoid learning than it would ever take them to actually study.

And before we know it, all those students who prefer not to study will be coming to class with bandages on! This trick may be pretty smart but for it to be really effective, you’ll have to write pretty small!

The Fashionable Realist

This trendsetter decided to accessorize AND cheat at the same time. “When I was in school, I tested horribly so I’d write keywords for exams on my wrist and wear a bunch of bracelets to cover them up.”

Let’s just hope those bracelets don’t cause too much noise! It sure makes for an interesting way to cover your tracks, but you may or may not need a lot of bracelets, depending on how much you write. Discretion is the lesson here!

Sneaky Smartwatch

At the end of the day, tests do not encourage the pursuit of knowledge as much as the pursuit of good grades. So to beat the system, one student decided to buy an Android smartwatch, specifically so that he could cheat.

He would screenshot his notes and send them to his watch for viewing, or if he needed to Google something through his voice he would say it aloud as if he was thinking to himself. Kids sure are sneaky nowadays!

Baseball Cap

Another easy way to defy the system is to stick your notes on the inside peak of your baseball cap. When your head is looking down at your desk, your teacher can’t see that your eyeballs are faced upwards.

But remember: it may look suspicious if you don’t usually wear a baseball cap, so be sure to wear one on days leading up to the test. Also, anyone sitting on either side of you will be able to see your notes and snitch on you.

This Signature Move

One sure-fire way you can ace your next difficult test is by wearing a sweater with hand-written messages and signatures, the sentimental kind, and simply write notes and words as discreetly as possible alongside the messages, so it blends in well.

If done correctly, the teachers shouldn’t be able to tell the difference. We also suggest that you use a washable marker; that way, you can wash and erase the notes and reuse the sweater for your next test.

Skirting Around Study

Although this maneuver can work for guys, it’s most effective for girls who won’t look strange wearing skirts to class. For this unorthodox cheating method, you write the answers on your knees or thighs. Then, when you get stuck, you lift your skirt to check the answer.

While this can be an excellent method if you have a lot of information to review, this method may capture the attention of both the teachers and the distracted guys sitting next to you.

Bathroom Break

This guileful girl used her bathroom trips to her advantage – to check her notes: before the tests, she would write some notes and formulas in difficult to reach places, that way nobody would find them and the chances that someone would erase them was slim.

Then during the test, she would go to the bathroom and take a quick look to refresh her memory. It was unrecognizable because she used a lot of shorthand, so no one suspected anything.

Secretive Squinting

This method would entail a lot of secretive squinting, and it would be pretty painstakingly tedious to write and paste the notes… Not to mention, pretty challenging to read! All that eyeful peeking just might look a little obvious to the teacher.

And, of course, some of these methods may require more work than studying, but if you are entirely opposed to cramming information for a test, simply to forget it soon, this one may be for you.

Cheats on Your Sleeve

While academic integrity is good, it’s not hard to see why many students give in to cheating. With a school day that starts at the crack of dawn and ends after extracurricular activities, before you get to bed you still have hours of homework to complete, only to have to do it all again the next day.

It’s not entirely difficult to understand why some students cheat, like this guy who wrote the answer on notes and taped it in his clothes.

Window View

It might be obvious that students will perform best in subjects they are enthusiastic about and try harder because they like it, but what do you do in cases where you will be tested on your least favorite subject?

You can always just write your notes on a pole or tree outside the window of your class. Position it at the perfect angle to make sure it’s within your view, and simply look out the window for some straightforward explanations.

Multiple Choice

Are exams and tests a fair way of assessing our knowledge? No, because the fact remains regular testing only results in students working toward getting a good grade and not actually learning, just cramming information for the sake of passing the class.

So another method that’s creative but also genius because it can’t be proven: in a multiple-choice test, pretend that you are fidgety and tap out the answers to your friends— one, two, three, or four, corresponding to the options.

Starbucks

Are you addicted to caffeine? For a Starbucks devotee, that green and white sign is a glimmering beacon of hope in a world full of trials and tribulations. People say it may be harmful, but in this case, it may work to your advantage!

Simply use your Starbucks coffee cup to caffeinate AND get a high score! All you need to do is write the answers on your Starbucks coffee cup and use the brown cup sleeve to cover up the evidence.

Chair Cheat Sheet

Whether one of your classes is really hard or you struggled with the material, it seems so much simpler to just take the easy way out. These students learned the value of hiding in plain sight, and it’s quite possibly the gutsiest cheating we’ve ever seen!

It may only work if your teacher doesn’t pace through the class to check up on you – it’s so clearly obvious that your teacher might just see right through your ruse!

Swapping Answers

If you don’t mind joining others down in the moral low ground, then here’s another trick. One student in a sophomore English class had tests after reading passages of books, so she and her friend strategically sat next to each other, and only filled in the questions that they knew.

Once they were done, they had to swap papers to correct each other’s work so that they would write in the correct answers for each other. However, it might take some practice to mimic each other’s handwriting.

If You’re Going to Plagiarise

If you’re going to plagiarise, then you need to do it properly. The classic copy and paste method alone simply won’t do. If you take the advice of those who’ve done it before, you need to follow up with a thesaurus and change a few words to evade detection.

If you’re using an expert or professor’s article and there are phrases like ‘the amiable veneration of Twain’s prose,’ you may want to tone it down a bit, so it’s not obvious.

Nailed It

Here is another instance where one student hid notes underneath her acrylic nails, which they could access when the teacher’s back was turned, and if the teacher turned back around, then she would simply flip her nail back.

If you get caught, take the Lance Armstrong route and plead complete and utter ignorance for as long as you can. Some students have found pretty creative ways to use fingernail art to cheat, we hope this kind of thinking will help them later in life.

Ankle Socks

Cheating is wrong, right? After all, making a cheat-sheet is essentially the same as making study notes. But if you want a leg up and need to be more creative take this person, who used their sock to hide the evidence.

“I once wrote the answers to my geometry test on my ankles, right underneath my socks. I crossed one leg over the other and moved my sock to pretend I was scratching my ankle. Nobody ever caught on.”

To Study or Not to Study

Many modern techniques to manipulate results will be useless if you can’t deal with your worriedness or anxiousness during final tests. Get rid of your worries and fears to win this important battle. Be aware of innovative solutions because it’s beneficial if you have no desire or time to study every day.

Some students find it easier to learn the necessary materials or theory to pass their final tests than keep creating endless fraudulent practices, though they’re very creative and innovative.

Musical Notes

This one’s almost on the teacher and it slipped right beneath her notice! If she allowed music in an exam, she should’ve thought about the consequences but she probably wasn’t aware of just how technology could be used.

Seeing as it’s easy to record a text file, one student decided to load a text file on her iPod as his teacher said it was fine for the students to “listen to music” while they take their tests. It sure made her class much easier!

The Mastermind

One of the essential features of all public schools is the importance of grades; without it, students probably wouldn’t feel the need to cheat.

So after going through all the inventive ways students steer clear of studying for tests, from making careful notes to using their stationery, we marvel at the creativity in terms of execution as well as ingenuity to score an ‘A.’ But finally, this person had the most mastermind method of all. “I cheated by memorizing information from textbooks.”

Crazy and Creative Tricks

Exams test memory more than actual learning, creativity, or real understanding of the subject. So for those who have a good memory, they can get away with doing very little work throughout the course and still get excellent grades.

But whether or not that’s you, you still have to make this choice, and you need to consider if it’s worth the consequences carefully. While certainly less ethical, we hope our list of crazy and creative tricks has entertained you!

This Translating Trick

Not a fan of writing essays or reading books? One student had to write a paper on a book he didn’t read, so what he did was find a well-written paper online and translate the entire article from English to multiple languages, like German, Spanish, French, etc. then eventually back to English.

Then, he could compare the new article to the original one by placing both side-by-side, that way he could improve the grammar and elaborate on the rest.

The Pencil Whisperer

Some say that there is an art to cheating. You can’t just write all the answers down and get them all right, especially if you haven’t previously been doing well in the class. That’s a dead giveaway.

Another way that’s difficult to detect is focusing at the top of the smartest students’ pencil trying to decipher if they wrote A, B, C, or D in a multiple-choice test. It might not help but it’s better than nothing!

Essay Elaboration

Have you ever had to do a 2000-word essay and hit a brick wall at 1000? There are a few simple things you can do to help build it up some more. Change ‘Shakespeare’ to ‘William Shakespeare’, U.S.A should become the United States of America.

Once you reach the end, you’ll need to write a conclusion, so just repeat what you’ve been saying and hopefully, you’ll be closer to your word count. These little tricks will add up!

Buying Time

Plenty of students find that they’re stuck and have a deadline when handing in an assignment, so in one last bid to save their grade, they send a file to their teacher that they won’t be able to open.

If you have to e-mail your assignment, you can corrupt any Word document by opening it up in notepad, deleting a few lines, and re-saving it as an unreadable file. This trick all depends on how tech-savvy your teacher is, and their general discernment.

Invisible Ink

It is not the tests themselves that allow cheating but the conditions in which they are conducted, so even though exams are closely monitored, and there are severe penalties if they are found cheating, students still try as they might.

During geography and science exams, students were allowed to use reference books, so one student used invisible ink to make notes for herself secretly. Be careful, though, as she had to use a small light to see the ink, which may make you more visible to your teacher!
