Sadly, a 17-year-old dog was recently left alone and tied up in the park with nothing but a sad note. All older dogs deserve loving homes to spend their golden years in.
This old dog is now getting the care he needs from a rescue group.
Yesterday, the Syracuse, New York-based charity Cuse Pit Crew got a call about a dog that had been left behind in Schiller Park.
What was Written on Note
According to a note left by his owner, he was a 17-year-old dog called Max and was tied to a picnic bench.
The note says, “I’m a good boy.” “”My owners can’t take care of me anymore… Please help me!
The Cuse Pit Crew team met with Syracuse Police and Dog Control, and they took Max to the hospital.
The group said they wished Max’s owner had called for help instead of leaving the dog. They wrote on Facebook, “Max is not the first dog left in a park, and he will not be the last.” It might have been possible to avoid this if more people knew about our services. We’re not here to save you, but we will do everything we can to help you solve your problems.
“We don’t want another Max to be left alone in a park.”
After that, the HumaneCNY cat shelter took Max in. Their old owner of Max had been found and arrested on one count of abandonment and one count of abuse, according to a post.
As Max’s story got around, people helped the shelter and gave money to help pay for his care. In a message from this afternoon, HumaneCNY said that Max was getting medicines and painkillers that were “much needed.”
He was also said to be anemic, dehydrated, and have had chronic ear infections that had hurt his ears forever. They did say that, for his age, his bloodwork was “pretty decent,” and that he was still a “lively and curious boy” who likes people.
They also said that they are working on finding a foster home for Max.
It breaks our hearts that sweet Max was left alone, but we’re glad he is safe and getting the care he needs.
