How To Show Timothee Chalamet Thanks For Korean Fans Dune: Part Two

Timothee Chalamet was talking at this press thing in Seoul for his new movie “Dune: Part Two” on Wednesday. He mentioned how grateful he is for all the Korean fans of the “Dune” series. It was pretty cool ’cause the director Denis Villeneuve and other cast members like Zendaya, Austin Butler, and Stellan Skarsgard were all there too.

When he carefully pronounced the term in Korean, “Dune-chin-ja,” which is short for “Dune-e-michin-ja,” meaning someone who’s crazy for “Dune” in Korean, he was hearing it for the first time during this visit. He expressed his gratitude for the warm reception to the film’s first installment here. The term “Dune-chin-ja” became popular after the release of the first part of the film in 2021, showing how much Korean fans adore it.

“It’s just amazing, as an American, to witness the incredible cinematic history here and to actually be here,” Timothee Chalamet shared with reporters, dressed in a pale blue jumpsuit designed by Korean designer Juun.j.

“It’s really great to be able to support local designers and a huge thank you to Juun.j for giving me this opportunity to wear their creation,” he continued. Zendaya, matching Chalamet’s style in a pastel pink jumpsuit, chimed in, “Hopefully we look alright.”

“Dune: Part Two,” the sequel to the 2021 film “Dune,” continues Paul Atreides’ story. Played by Chalamet, a young noble who teams up with the Fremen tribe for revenge. Director Villeneuve’s world-building is notable, drawing inspiration from Frank Herbert’s novel. Timothee Chalamet found the book fascinating because it centers on Paul, who experiences love, loss, and conflict as the central character.

Austin Butler, known for his role in “Elvis,” portrays Feyd-Rautha, Paul’s adversary in “Dune: Part Two.” Both he and Timothee Chalamet underwent extensive training for the action scenes before shooting in Budapest. “This was a significant role for me post-‘Elvis,'” Butler mentioned.

Villeneuve was like, ‘So with ‘Dune: Part Two,’ I wanna focus on this young guy’s journey.’

‘He’s all about figuring out where he comes from and then finally feeling free. In the next part, he’s dealing with some deep stuff, you know? What really got me excited as a filmmaker was this idea of a guy getting into a new culture, falling in love with it, and finding his place there. ‘Dune: Part Two’ is gonna be action-packed. That’s been the toughest part, for sure,’ he told the reporters.”

Zendaya, visiting Korea for the first time, said she felt touched by the fans’ warm reception. She plays Chani, who falls in love with Paul in “Dune: Part Two.”

“I’ve been reading these lovely letters from fans, and they mean a lot to me. The welcome here has been amazing – even better than at my mom’s house! I’m really enjoying my time here and wish I could stay longer,” Zendaya said.

The director and cast of “Dune: Part Two” will finish their official promotion in Seoul with a red carpet event at Yeungdeungpo CGV on Thursday, where they’ll meet fans.

The movie “Dune: Part Two” is doing well in local box offices, currently in second place with 118,000 tickets reserved. It’s set to release on Feb. 28th.
