Nikki Haley's 'Finish Them!' Endorsement of Israeli Military Action Criticized Amid Gaza Violence

Nikki Haley, the former US Ambassador to the United Nations, visited Israel this week and signed an artillery shell with the message “Finish them!” during a tour of a destroyed kibbutz. The kibbutz, Nir Oz, was attacked by Hamas on October 7. Haley’s message also included “America <3 Israel always” followed by her signature.

The visit came as Israel continues its military offensive in Gaza, which has resulted in a high number of civilian casualties. Recently, an Israeli airstrike hit a tent camp in Rafah, killing 45 people and injuring 200 more. The camp was considered a safe zone for displaced Palestinians.

According to the Gaza Health Ministry, over 36,000 Palestinians have been killed since October, with women and children making up most of the fatalities. The conflict began on October 7 after Hamas militants attacked Israeli communities, killing around 1,200 people and taking over 250 people hostage. Israel responded with a promise of a “complete siege” of Gaza.

Haley’s visit and message have sparked controversy, given the ongoing violence and humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Her support for Israel’s military action has been criticised by many, who see it as a provocative gesture amid an already tense situation.
