During Monday episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, the singer openly talked about her health journey. Whoopi Goldberg also shared her experience with weight loss medication, and Kelly chimed in with her own story. Kelly Clarkson is being straightforward about her physical changes, confessing to using a weight loss drug to help lose weight. Until now, she had side stepped discussing this topic.

Kelly told Whoopi and her audience that she had not planned on sharing this side of her life but admitted she too was advised a weight loss med after troubling bloodwork. She added, Mine is a different one than people might think, but I ended up having to do that too. Kelly continued, My doctor kept urging me for like 2 years. I was hesitant, she said, expressing fear due to her existing thyroid issues. Everyone assumes it is Ozempic, but it is not. It is a different medication that helps break down sugar. My body does not do it properly.

In 2023, she asked NBC to move her show to New York City for a change. Moving there helped her move more, with all the walking. She also changed her diet and wellness habits after her pre diabetic diagnosis.

How did she change her diet?

Kelly revamped her diet by focusing on eating lots of protein, which she finds beneficial for her health. She still allows herself treats but mostly sticks to healthy choices. Kelly’s Classic BBQ, a signature flavor of popcorn, is one of her favorite snacks. She loves it because it is gluten-free, non-GMO, and plant-based.

In 2018, Kelly lost 37 pounds due to health reasons, including an autoimmune disease and thyroid issues. She credited her weight loss to following The Plant Paradox Diet, which focuses on eliminating certain foods to improve health. She has not needed medication since then and feels better overall.

This admission comes after Kelly recently mentioned losing weight due to being more active in NYC and eating a lot of protein. However, it appears that another factor played a role. During Monday episode, Kelly mentioned having a wake-up call after filming a concert in L.A. She said she did not recognize herself when she watched the footage back, revealing she weighed 203 pounds at her heaviest.
