Unfortuitously, not every canine companion is able to enjoy a life filled with affection and ease.
A significant number of them are doomed to live in situations that are extremely harsh, devoid of any emotion or warmth, and are compelled to fend for themselves by consuming scraps of food and drinking rainwater.
In addition, even after these puppies are finally rescued by a kind human being, it takes them a very long time to finally understand that the human being is not trying to cause them any harm and is simply there to assist them.
One such canine was a stunning Pitbull named Ruby. She had spent her entire existence in the woods, and as a result, she was very apprehensive to trust a human who wished to assist her.
Doggo In The Woods
When a woman by the name of MaryAnne came found a fully grown dog living in the woods by herself, she was utterly stunned and heartbroken when she realized the condition in which the dog was living.
Ruby, the little dog, had so severe malnutrition that her bones were exposed in their entirety.
Ruby just allowed her to give her a couple of pets before she disappeared back into the woods. She attempted to approach her and take her in, but Ruby only allowed her to do as she pleased.
“I knew there was no way she was going to make it through the winter as small as she was,” MaryAnne said in an interview with The Dodo.
MaryAnn was determined to win the trust of this timid dog and assist her in gaining some weight before the severe winter arrived. She did this despite the fact that she did not have a lot of time.
One Step At A Time
MaryAnn began coming into the woods every single day for several weeks after she discovered Ruby. She would bring her some delicious food and reassure her that there was nothing to be afraid of. This had been going on since the day she discovered Ruby.
On the other hand, Ruby would only approach her in order to get the opportunity to take the food. From the moment she took possession of it, she would immediately return to her “safe place,” as MaryAnn refers to it.
When spring arrived, MaryAnn began to observe progress; however, it wasn’t until the beginning of summer that she was able to successfully remove her from the vicinity of the forest.
It took her a few months to convince her to come to me on a daily basis, she recalled. “It was a struggle.”
When this diligent dog rescuer realized that Ruby had the confidence to come all the way to her backyard in order to have her delicious dinner, she was overjoyed. She was happy.
In addition to that, she was even able to sit with her for almost twenty minutes, during which time she spoke to her in a voice that was really soothing and gentle.
Putting a collar around MaryAnn’s head was her new objective, and fortunately, it turned out to be a lot simpler than she had anticipated.
From what I could tell, she was beginning to feel like a dog. It was at this point that she was beginning to comprehend the concept of love,” MaryAnn said.
At long last, Ruby began to be enjoying herself.
In the Mood of a Young Dog
Because Ruby’s previous existence was filled with a lot of misfortune, she was never able to experience a life filled with joy and pleasure, and as a result, she was completely unaware of what a ball was.
The days that MaryAnn would spend with Ruby were spent with her throwing a ball at her and waiting for the time when Ruby would finally understand what it was that she was supposed to do with the ball.
Ruby finally understood what was going on, and she became the happiest dog in the history of the world.
It was a great pleasure for her to spend time chasing after her new favorite toy and pleading with her human to throw it once more. And it was at that very time when Ruby emerged from her shell.
She would wait for MaryAnn to come out of the woods and call her name so that she could start her day off on the right foot. She would stand around the edge of the forest.
Despite this, she continued to exercise reluctance toward entering the house.
She had a large number of people who followed her urging me to simply take her in my arms and bring her inside. To put it simply, she was not that kind of dog. She remained extremely terrified of being confined or subjected to force. She continued by saying, “She needed to complete this on her own time.”
When Ruby eventually made her way inside the house, MaryAnn was so ecstatic that she could hardly control her enthusiasm. not just because of this insignificant act, but also because such a timid dog allowed her to into her heart and realized that she was only trying to assist her.
Final Word
This story did not only save Ruby; other people were also saved. MaryAnn was able to discover a sense of purpose in her life by giving her the genuine love and affection that she had been deserving of all along.
Taking advantage of this occasion, I would want to express my gratitude to MaryAnn for her unwavering determination and her unwavering patience with Ruby. I am overjoyed that everything turned out the way it was supposed to.
