These Celebrities Took the Best Christmas Photos

Whether you use the phrase “Happy Holidays” or “Merry Christmas”, it’s not a big deal. Read on to find out how popular celebrities such as Drake and Drew Barrymore celebrate this time of year. As soon as fall arrives, people from all walks of life, regardless of their financial status, age, or preparedness, start prepping for the yearly holidays. You’ll be amazed to learn about the charitable activities of wealthy celebrities like Idris Elba. Justin Timberlake and Ryan Reynolds both have young children this year, so they’ll undoubtedly be making ugly Christmas sweaters and baking terrible cookies together. For others, such as Ariana Grande, Christmas is all about spending time with their loved ones. Take a look at how 25 of your favorite celebrities celebrate Christmas!

Millie Bobby Brown

Everybody loves a great Christmas photoshoot, including famous personalities who also want to participate and have a good time!

Millie’s portrayal of Eleven on Stranger Things could possibly scare certain viewers, but her Instagram profile portrays her as a typical teenager. Despite having images from her photoshoots, she proves that she still enjoys being a child and values her family a great deal. Furthermore, she and her sister have matching Christmas pajamas and she calls her sister #bae.

Shakira

Shakira is famous for her hips which are truthful, but in addition, she enjoys spending valuable moments with her loved ones.

It’s heartwarming to see that this diligent vocalist and her footballer companion, Gerard Piqué, prioritize family time by indulging in fun activities with their children such as attending a Christmas day Nicks basketball game or baking gingerbread man cookies together. Shakira has expressed her desire to retire after giving birth to her second child, as being a mother has always been her goal and she wishes to spend more time with them.

Emilia Clarke

Emilia Clarke, famous for portraying Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, has qualities that extend beyond her leadership skills on screen.

Clarke is an active participant in online political and charitable activities. She is particularly passionate about ensuring that nurses receive fair compensation and acknowledgment. In the previous Christmas, she decided to pay tribute to nurses working in the United Kingdom’s National Health Service while she became the Royal College of Nursing’s ambassador in 2018.

Justin Timberlake

Last year, Justin Timberlake demonstrated his lack of shame for indulging in the Christmas cookies his child leaves out for Santa. This was evident from a post he made in which he donned a sweater emblazoned with an image of Santa along with a caption.

Inquire with your mother about my existence. Timberlake and Biel are parents to their son, Silas, but have expressed interest in expanding their family. It’s possible that this upcoming Christmas, Silas might receive a card as a present announcing that he’s going to be an older sibling!

Drake

Were you aware that Drake, the singer and rapper, is of Jewish descent? He attended a Hebrew school and was brought up by his mother who ensured that Jewish principles were instilled in him.

Drake’s reputation includes being extremely charitable, such as gifting a recording studio to a Philadelphia high school and assisting a widow with five kids financially. In addition, Drake has also been known to generously give Christmas presents to his friends including rare sneakers and $10,000 in cash. It can certainly be beneficial to have a friendship with someone as generous as him.

Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande adores Christmas to an extent that she named her EP Christmas & Chill. Back in 2013, she caused envy among all Christmas lovers by partnering with Santa to illuminate the Empire State Building for the holiday season.

The previous year, she decided to relax and enjoy the holiday by going on a ski trip. Nevertheless, her family holds a significant place in her heart, and it is expected that she will spend Christmas with her grandmother, mother, and brother in the warm and sunny Florida this time.

Idris Elba

Were you aware that Idris Elba, popular for his charming appearance and acting in TV series like the UK mystery show Luther and the Hollywood film The Dark Tower, had previously acted in a Christmas themed movie?

Yes, he actually did. Although the movie didn’t receive great reviews, it’s possible that his kids, Isan and Winston, would like to watch it as part of a family custom. Additionally, they might have pleasure in participating in their father’s benevolent trips, particularly when he dresses up as Santa and visits kids at Newham and Whipps Cross Hospital.

Dwayne Johnson

Have you ever thought about the reason behind The Rock’s impressive performance as a father in movies? It’s not shocking to know that he actually has experience being a real father.

Johnson takes immense pride in his firstborn, Simone, and recently captured a lovely photograph of them together in front of their Christmas tree. He maintains a positive and cordial relationship with his ex-partner, Dany Garcia, who not only happens to be Simone’s mother, but also works as the manager and producing partner of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Additionally, this year, the actor and former wrestler will have the pleasure of celebrating the holiday season with his two younger daughters.

Cristiano Ronaldo

During Christmas time, Cristiano Ronaldo, a forward for both the Portugal national team and the Italian club Juventus, decided to take a break from playing soccer in order to enjoy some time with his family.

This renowned footballer from Portugal clearly prioritizes his family. Cristanio has four kids, including a newborn girl who arrived six weeks prior to Christmas in 2017! It’s likely that he’ll take extra pleasure in celebrating his youngest child Alana’s second Christmas, as she’ll be able to savor some of her grandma’s delicious food!

Drew Barrymore

Drew Barrymore thoroughly enjoys observing Christmas festivities. The lively performer is very committed to creating happy and pleasant holiday recollections for her daughters. As a result, she joined forces with their father last year during the festive season, so that they could celebrate the occasion together.

It’s impossible to fully fathom the extent of love that Olive and Frankie, the two little girls, are experiencing. It’s a delightful feeling to be able to spend Christmas Eve sleeping beside their mother and opening presents with their father in the morning.

Ryan Reynolds & Blake Lively

Reynolds’ on-screen character is equally sentimental as he is in real life, however, his attractive appearance off-screen compensates for his inadequacy in baking as highlighted by his wife, actress Blake Lively. This was evident in photographs of holiday cookies which Reynolds baked, that were burnt and poorly frosted.

In 2016, Reynolds and Lively welcomed their daughter into the world. It is speculated whether their Christmas tree looks more impressive than their baked goodies. Despite the tense dynamic between Ryan and his father, it’s evident that participating in familial holiday customs is significant to both Ryan and Blake.

Chris Hemsworth

Besides Emilia Clarke, Chris Hemsworth was also worried about the well-being of healthcare workers during the festive season. In the previous year, he not only expressed his support but also went surfing to collect funds for Cancer Council Australia.

Hemsworth demonstrated his appreciation for holiday festivities by donning a Christmas sweater-inspired rash guard while engaging in surfing activities. It’s quite impressive that a guy who portrays a fictional hero in films also dedicates his free time towards promoting meaningful social initiatives. Furthermore, it is evident that this fair-haired and blue-eyed artist adores his partner and their twin daughters.

Jennifer Lawrence

It appears that Jennifer Lawrence is contemplating establishing a yearly custom of viewing her 2016 MTV After Hours Special Christmas Sleepover, which she recorded with her friend Chris Pratt.

Despite the speculation about a possible romantic relationship, it appears that their interaction is simply playful and light-hearted. To commemorate the holiday season, they improvised their beloved Christmas tunes by transforming them into death metal songs and playfully hitting Santa with a tray of cookies. Additionally, Lawrence visited a nearby hospital to gift playthings to the young patients, which has become an annual Christmas tradition for her.

Anna Kendrick

In December of last year, Anna Kendrick had the privilege of joining Jimmy Kimmel and Darlene Love to perform the track “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” alongside The Roots. Anna humorously described the image of her, Jimmy, and Darlene as her official Christmas picture for the year 2017.

Similar to many individuals, Kendrick values the necessity of going back home for the holidays. Kendrick’s hometown is Portland, Maine, and it’s likely that she’ll be celebrating Christmas with her boyfriend, Ben Richardson, in the comfort of her parents’ house, surrounded by warmth from the fireplace.

Rashida Jones

Rashida Jones shares Millie Bobby Brown’s excitement for spending Christmas with family, as she also cherishes time with her siblings, particularly her older sister Kidada, who can be seen with Rashida in a holiday picture from 2017.

Rashida and Kidada were brought up in the Jewish faith by their mother. It is not widely known, but Rashida had a baby recently and is expected to celebrate Hanukkah with the new addition to her family, along with Ezra Koenig. It is anticipated that they will have a wonderful time!

Alicia Keys

Alicia Keys, who is a musician, and her husband, a music producer and rapper named Swiss Beatz, have been married since 2010 and have two children.

Last year, Swiss and Alicia took a playful approach to an Instagram post where they posed in front of their tree, which had been completely decorated. The photo presented Swiss as if he were seated atop Alicia’s shoulders. Given that they have had a friendship since high school, it is presumed that they have had an ample amount of time to crack jokes and tease one another.

Ricky Martin

During the holidays, certain individuals enjoy taking some time to unwind and rejuvenate. Ricky Martin, a singer, and his spouse, Ywan Josef, who is a painter, spent their Christmas by a poolside in Puerto Rico the previous year.

Ricky and his spouse reside in Beverly Hills, but Ricky originally hails from San Juan. It’s probable that they were on a trip to visit Ricky’s relatives. He comes from a Catholic household and is the youngest among his four brothers and one sister.

Neymar Jr.

Neymar Jr. also prefers to take a break from soccer during Christmas and spend quality time with his immediate family, just like Cristiano Ronaldo, who is also a famous football player. Neymar Jr. spends his Christmas holidays with his mother, father, and sister, Rafaella Beckran.

Rafaella and Neymar have a strong bond as siblings that is evident in the tattoos they each have in honor of their love for each other. Neymar chose to get a tattoo of his sister’s face on his arm, while Rafaella has a tattoo of his eyes on her arm as a testament to their closeness. It’s truly remarkable how tight-knit their relationship is.

Rihanna

The famous Instagram personality Badgalriri, also known as Rihanna, is constantly busy with various endeavors. Despite her music career, she also develops beauty products and clothing collections.

On her Instagram profile, there is a plethora of pictures featuring her modeling, executing on stage, or featuring her various products. Notwithstanding, it’s common knowledge that Rihanna has a fun-loving side to her, and it’s highly unlikely that she’d pass up the opportunity to throw a great party. Thus, we can reasonably assume that Rihanna has some indulgent and soothing method of celebrating the festive season.

Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Clarkson gained immense popularity as soon as she won the inaugural edition of American Idol. Despite the passage of time, she appears to have a knack for remaining in the public eye.

In 2013, she raised the bar of the uncomfortable Christmas family photo by capturing her initial family holiday snapshot with her newly wedded husband, Brandon Blackstock, and his two children from a previous marriage. Currently, Clarkson and Blackstock have two kids together. It’s possible that we will witness a complete family edition of this cringy photo this year.

Mariah Carey

Many were taken aback when Mariah Carey revealed this year that she had been diagnosed with Bipolar II disorder in 2001 and had been keeping her condition hidden, demonstrating great bravery in her announcement.

Mariah suffers from Bipolar II disorder characterized by episodes of depression and hypomania that can be especially overwhelming during holiday seasons. But Mariah is grateful for her supportive friends and family who provide her with love and help her cope during these challenging times. In fact, she cherishes spending Christmas with her loved ones, which is evident from her 2017 family celebration picture.

Beyonce

Without a doubt, Queen B is skilled in the art of enjoyment. Beyonce is renowned for establishing a unique bond with her admirers and serving as a role model for countless individuals, including her three offspring.

We are curious if Beyonce and Jay-Z will establish a customary Christmas event every year that showcases their children’s talents. The reason for this speculation is evident from Beyonce’s previous family Christmas pictures, which indicate that she was brought up with the holiday’s familial merriments. Beyonce flaunted her festive cheerfulness at Jay-Z’s office celebration by donning this Christmas tree outfit!

Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Joseph Gordon-Levitt doesn’t observe Christmas in the traditional sense that most people do because he grew up in a Jewish family with parents who were not particularly strict about religious customs.

Christmas has never really been something Gordon-Levitt has been interested in celebrating in the traditional sense. However, Joseph does love to sing, so if you get him around a piano and ask him to sing a Christmas tune, he’s likely to serenade you. Some even refer to his holiday party crooning as “legendary,” especially when joined by fellow holiday enthusiast Seth Rogen.

Oprah Winfrey

No one can forget when Oprah Winfrey yelled out “You all get free cars!” Oprah is known not only for her years of inspiring interviews and a famous book club, but also her tremendous generosity.

But what does Oprah do for herself and her family for Christmas? She hosts a dinner party! Oprah spent more than 40 years attending Christmas dinner at her grandmother’s house, and now that her grandma has passed, Oprah hosts her own fabulous Christmas dinners with her long-time partner, Stedman Graham, and close friends like Gayle King. They even got matching Christmas jammies!

Pink

No mom is perfect. Elf on a Shelf creates a ridiculous scramble every evening in December for many a mom who wants to build a fun tradition with her kids.

Singer Pink probably has a daily reminder in her calendar for this December to move that darn elf, considering her #momfail last year. It seems the kids still think Santa is real, though, because one of them wrote a letter about how their elf, Chippy, hadn’t moved in three days and they weren’t sure why! Whoops! Pink showcased her fail by posting the letter on Instagram.

A large part of celebrity life is getting glammed up and strutting down the red carpet. However, not everyone is a fashionista, and it can be difficult to stay on top of each season’s new trends. We’re not quite sure what went wrong when these celebs picked out their red carpet outfits, but clearly there was a problem (or two). Whether it was a rogue stylist, a creative idea gone wrong, or just bad taste, these stars wore some seriously disastrous looks on the red carpet.

Demi Moore’s Bike Shorts

Check out one of those truly bizarre and terrible red carpet outfits. Here we have actress Demi Moore on the Academy Awards red carpet in 1989 wearing her own creation. Yes, that’s right – Demi Moore made her own outfit for the Oscars. This isn’t the VMAs, Demi!

As you can see, Moore’s outfit consisted of black bike shorts, a corset, and a Renaissance-styled bodice fashioned out of embroidered material. The press went wild over it, but at least Moore seemed to enjoy her look.

Bjork’s Swan Dress

Of all the red carpet disasters in history, Icelandic singer Bjork’s swan dress is usually high up on that list. Personally, we admire the quirky singer’s bird-themed look, but we also understand that it isn’t exactly red carpet chic.

The “It’s Oh So Quiet” singer wore the swan dress – by Marjan Pejoski – to the 2003 Academy Awards. Though it’s long been mocked, the swan dress is undeniably part of fashion history. In fact, Valentino paid homage to the gown in its 2014 couture show.

Faith Hill’s Rainbow Gown

Country artist Faith Hill decided to match her outfit with her performance for the 2002 Academy Awards. The singer took to the stage to sing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” dressed head to toe in rainbow appliqué.

The gown itself was a gradient rainbow lace Versace dress, and might not be all that offensive to modern audiences. However, against the sea of formal gowns and tuxedos at the Academy Awards, this dress was just a little too bright.

Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake’s Matching Denim

It’s pretty undeniable that Britney and Justin’s 2001 look for the American Music Awards was a crime against fashion. Seriously, it’s been several decades and we still haven’t recovered.

The ‘It couple’ of 2001 rocked up to the AMAs wearing matching head-to-toe denim ensembles, including a denim cowboy hat, a denim suit, a denim gown, and a denim purse. Lest we forget, Britney also popped on a rhinestone choker necklace to tie the whole thing together. Y2K!

Sarah Jessica Parker’s Poppies

Understandably, actress Sarah Jessica Parker has long been associated with her most famous character, Carrie Bradshaw – the fashionista New Yorker who would choose a pair of Manolo Blahniks over breakfast. Despite this fictional fashionista pedigree, SJP still makes the occasional fashion faux pas, like this outrageous outfit.

This is Sarah Jessica Parker’s outfit for the 2015 Met Gala, which had the theme of “China: Through the Looking Glass.” We’re perplexed by the number of poppies on show, never mind the cape and headdress combo.

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Punk Look

At the 1999 Academy Awards, actress Gwyneth Paltrow wore a pink satin Ralph Lauren gown and took home an Oscar. Several years later, at the 2002 ceremony, the actress arrived looking more punk than princess.

Paltrow decided to wear an Alexander McQueen gown that year, along with smudgy eye makeup and an updo. Looking back, Paltrow still admires the dress, but wishes she had worn “simple beachy hair and less makeup.” It’s a shame to see something so colorless on such a stunning actress!

Kate Hudson’s Hair

It’s hard to believe that the gorgeous Kate Hudson could ever make herself look so drab – and strange – but here she’s done it. The actress attended the 2011 Academy Awards when she was just 21 years old and was excited to wear her first Stella McCartney red carpet look.

Kate revealed that when she saw herself on so many worst-dressed lists, she called the designer and they laughed about it. Apparently, McCartney told Hudson, “Look babe, it was the hair wasn’t it?”

Kim Basinger’s Wild White Creation

Yet again, with Kim Basinger, we have another celebrity that decided to design their own Oscars look. Can someone please tell Basinger and Demi Moore that fashion designers exist and can be trusted to come up with their own designs?

Actress Basinger wore this wild and white one-shouldered gown to the 1990 Academy Awards, and we just can’t get our heads around it. The gown has one long glove, half of a jacket, and white shiny fabric. Get it away from us!

Uma Thurman’s Pirate Goddess Gown

Is it just us or does actress Uma Thurman look like she’s on her way to a fancy dress party? And is it just us or does it look like she’s dressed as a cross between a Grecian goddess and a pirate on their wedding day?

Thurman rocked up to the 2004 Academy Awards red carpet wearing this Christian Lacroix couture creation. The gown itself was white tulle with a high-low silhouette and lots of fabric. On top, Thurman wore a bizarre vest to match the bizarre bottom half.

Céline Dion’s Backwards Tuxedo

No matter how many times we look at Céline Dion’s outfit at the 1999 Academy Awards, we can’t quite believe what we’re looking at. The legendary Canadian singer showed up to the Oscars red carpet wearing a backward, all-white, John Galliano for Christian Dior Tuxedo, with a fedora and diamond-studded Ray-Bans.

Yes, this is one of the weirdest ensembles we’ve ever seen in any context, but because it was worn by Céline Dion, this look is now legendary too.

Dolly Parton’s Red Ruffles

Up next is a more recent red carpet disaster, courtesy of country queen Dolly Parton. The “9 to 5” singer is known for her outlandish sense of style, her giant blonde bouffant, and her fondness for cosmetic procedures. For the Grammy Awards in 2019, Parton stepped out in this bedazzled and ruffled red dress.

As far as Dolly Parton goes, this isn’t even that wild of an outfit. However, the red dress does have embellishments, beading, jewels, ruffles, an asymmetrical hem, and a plunging neckline.

Jodie Foster’s Taffeta Bustle

In the early days of Hollywood, costume designers made sure that stars were dressed in style both on stage and off. Nowadays, stylists and glam squads make sure that celebs are photo-ready at any opportunity. However, in between these two periods, celebrities were showing up to red carpets having dressed themselves. Can you imagine?

In 1989, actress Jodie Foster won the Best Actress award at the Oscars. She wore a blue strapless ruched taffeta dress with a bustle style train and white tights. This gown was no example of her win that night!

Freida Pinto’s Silky Suit Dress

Actress Freida Pinto’s outfit for the 2011 Met Gala is a great example of designer names being irrelevant. Sure, a couture piece is bound to be well made, and a model may have looked good wearing it, but that doesn’t mean the item will make sense in another context.

The theme of the 2011 Met Gala was “Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty,” and Frieda Pinto wore this couture Chanel gown. Sorry, even though it’s Chanel, we can’t get past this black and white monstrosity.

Cameron Diaz’s Sheer Pleated Gown

In 2002, Cameron Diaz wore this unusual Emanuel Ungaro silk wrap dress to the Academy Awards. The gown is emblazoned with large red flowers, but also somehow looks like nightwear. One side of Diaz’s dress is sheer, while the other is pleated.

Surprisingly, Cameron Diaz actually still likes this dress. However, she has also commented that she looks like she “Just got out of bed and threw it on,” and that her messy hairdo added to the disheveled look.

Susan Sarandon’s Sunglasses

And what do we have here? Where do we begin? We’re going to go ahead and guess that Susan Sarandon’s 1996 Oscars look happened in that magic period when celebrities didn’t use stylists. There’s no other explanation for how this outfit could have happened.

Susan Sarandon took home an Academy Award at the 1996 ceremony, but her Dolce & Gabbana brown gold dress deserves absolutely no attention whatsoever. And why, oh why, is the actress wearing a pair of terrible ’90s sunglasses?

Tilda Swinton’s Trash Bag

Tilda Swinton is known for her androgynous look and bold sense of style. For the 2008 Oscars, the actress wore this polarizing black Lanvin gown and came home with the Best Supporting Actress award.

Swinton’s black Lanvin dress is rather shapeless and only has one sleeve. At the time, many outlets described the gown as looking like a trash bag, and we can sort of see why. Tilda Swinton wore this gown with barely-there makeup and her hair in a bright orange pompadour.

Cara Delevingne’s Gold Paint

Cara Delevingne attended the 2022 Met Gala in a beautiful red suit. However, the model’s outfit was ruined by the fact that she took the Met Gala’s “gilded” theme too literally and actually spray-painted herself gold!

Not only was the body paint completely unnecessary but it was also blotched and streaky. The final cherry on top of this unfortunate outfit was that Cara took off her suit jacket, despite the fact that she wasn’t wearing a top underneath.

Lena Dunham’s Poufy Skirt

Polarizing writer and actress Lena Dunham is often perplexing people with her fashion choices. Dunham’s Girls character Hannah Horvath was known for her regularly ill-fitting hipster fashion choices, and those often spilled over into real life too.

For the 2014 Emmy Awards, Dunham showed up wearing this Giambattista Valli couture silk taffeta shirt and tulle skirt. Whilst we love the poufy skirt, the overall styling here missed the mark. Dunham needs a lengthening up-do, a prettier top, and more playful makeup.

Linda Cardellini’s Feathered Gown

Like many things, fashion is subjective. That means that some people may look at Linda Cardellini’s 2019 Academy Awards outfit and think it looks like a trussed-up flamingo, while others might admire its boldness and texture.

Personally, we’re siding with the latter group as we have a pretty big soft spot for all things pink. However, this dress ended up on plenty of Worst Dressed lists because of its similarity to a feather duster. The Schiaparelli gown certainly got people talking.

Sophia Loren’s Belle Dress

No one can deny that actress Sophia Loren is a film and fashion icon. One of the classic stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood, Loren was the first Oscar winner for a non-English language performance. Loren’s smoldering beauty and chic fashion are still inspiring today, but she undeniably did not deliver at the 2009 Academy Awards.

The most obvious comparison for this yellow ruffled dress is Belle’s yellow gown from Beauty and the Beast. Sadly, this one was more beast than beauty.

Kim Kardashian’s Couch Outfit

When Kim Kardashian attended her first-ever Met Gala in 2013, she sent the internet into a frenzy. The reality star had never been invited to the prestigious fashion event but managed to get in as Kanye West’s guest. A pregnant Kardashian chose a floral Givenchy gown but ended up being compared to a couch.

Kim has since revealed, “I just remember the Olsen twins came up to me and loved my outfit […] so none of the critics mattered, because the Olsen twins approved, and I loved it.”

Jennifer Connelly’s Skinny Scarf

Could this be another gown that was selected in the dark ages when celebrities didn’t rely on stylists? Surely that’s the only explanation for such a hideous gown making it to the red carpet. Actress Jennifer Connelly won an Oscar at the 2002 Academy Awards, but she certainly wasn’t dressed for the occasion.

We are outright offended at this Nicolas Ghesquiere for Balenciaga dress with its beige blandness, haggard ruffles, drop waist, and inexplicable skinny scarf. Everything is wrong with this look. Thank you, next!

Geena Davis’ Ruffled Train

We’re so used to seeing Geena Davis as an elegant, well-dressed celebrity, that we can’t even believe this is the same person. Here we have the star at the 1992 Academy Awards in an ensemble made by costume designers Ruth Meyers and Bill Hargate.

This outrageous red carpet look features a tiny white bodice waist with a voluminous, overflowing, high-low, ruffled train. To make things even worse, Davis wore black tights with this wild ’90s look and slapped on a pair of long white gloves.

Lady Gaga’s Red Gloves

Compared to some of the looks on this list, we don’t think Lady Gaga’s 2015 Oscars look is that wild. However, the popstar’s Azzedine Alaïa look did stir up a decent amount of attention and eventually became the subject of numerous online jokes and memes.

Gaga worked with the designer on this gown, resulting in a crocodile textured, sculpted gown with exaggerated shoulders and bright red gloves. By the end of the night, Gaga had been photoshopped in front of numerous piles of dishes.

Sharon Stone’s Bridal Ballgown

We’re surprised by the number of celebs on this list that have worn white gowns to red carpet events. Considering just how bridal these gowns look, why risk showing up at an awards ceremony looking like you’re on the way to a chapel?

Here we have actress Sharon Stone attending the 1995 Academy Awards in a shiny white gown and matching jacket. The puffball skirt and strange neckline of the jacket just scream ’80s to us, even though that decade had already passed.

Hilary Swank’s Gauzy Overskirt

My oh my, what do we have here? Actress Hilary Swank is a striking woman with a strong bone structure and a winning smile. However, in this ensemble, she looks like a 12-year-old who doesn’t know anyone else at the birthday party.

The Oscar-winning actress wore this pale pink Dior minidress with an ombre pink gauzy overskirt to the 2003 Academy Awards. The dress’s silhouette is simply too square for Swank’s muscular frame and makes her look far more childish than she is.

Whoopi Goldberg’s Lime Green Lining

It would be another four years until actress Whoopi Goldberg would play Queen Constantina in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s remake of Cinderella. However, you wouldn’t know that from looking at the outfit she wore to the 1993 Academy Awards.

The actress, comedian, and singer hosted the ceremony wearing an embroidered, silky, purple and green jumpsuit, and finished the look with a purple gown lined in lime green. The star’s hair was teased into an oversized up-do, and she wore gigantic earrings too. Whoopi, what were you thinking?

Rachel Weisz’s Latex Capelet

So far on this list of the worst red carpet looks, we haven’t seen very much latex. But fear not, because with Rachel Weisz’s 2019 Oscars outfit, we’re about to get some. The actress wore this two-piece Givenchy Couture look, which includes an embroidered red gown and a matching latex capelet.

For an extra touch of glam, Weisz had two silver Cartier feather pins sewn into her hair, and accessorized with a metallic clutch. We admire the boldness, but this just doesn’t look good.

Kate Winslet’s Beading

Back in 1998, Kate Winslet was nominated for Best Actress at the 1998 Academy Awards. For the occasion, the actress agreed to wear Givenchy, but only if the couture house didn’t dress anyone else. This costume-like dress was designed by the renowned Alexander McQueen and reminds us a little too much of Titanic.

This gown had a horseshoe neckline, draping, long sleeves, and lots of beaded embellishments. We reckon that Winslet looks like she’s off to spend the day at a medieval fair.

Tyra Banks’ Prom Dress

Everyone’s favorite supermodel Tyra Banks went to the 2000 Academy Awards looking like she was going to prom. Banks’ poufy purple Vera Wang gown overshadowed her striking looks and made her look more princess than poised.

This gown’s drop waist is confusing to the eye, and its tulle ruffles add volume where none is required. Thank goodness the noughties are over!

Cher’s Feathered Headdress

Armenian-American Goddess of Pop, Cher is known for her wild outfits, both on and off stage. The singer and actress wore this outrageous Bob Mackie ensemble to the 1986 Academy Awards partly to stand up to her critics. At the time, it had been suggested that Cher hadn’t been nominated for an award because of her fashion sense. Her response? This outfit.

For this look, Cher combines a huge feathered headpiece, a two-piece bedazzled set with a harness neckline, and some sort of cape. As you can see, this was no one-time faux pas, she is no stranger to dressing to the extreme!
