Late Night Lycett is a comedy show on Channel 4, hosted by Joe Lycett. It won a BAFTA award and first aired on March 31, 2023. It was filmed in Lycett hometown of Birmingham. The show has quick chats with famous guests, a funny take on GB News called Richard Yewtree, and a contest where three audience members share embarrassing stories to win Lycett car. In the first series, comedian Katherine Ryan always misses the studio, which is a running joke. Sometimes, a celeb runs Lycett local shop because the owner is in the audience. Lycett aunts, Pauline and Margaret, are regulars in the crowd. Linda Biscuits, played by a Labrador named Chilli, is part of the team despite having no experience. The set is decorated with art by local Birmingham artists like Tat Vision and Fokawolf.

Joe Lycett had to receive his BAFTA for Best Entertainment Performance while dressed as Elizabeth I due to a bet he lost with his aunts.

The Late Night Lycett host said on a recent episode of his show – for which he received the 12th May BAFTA award. He would dress as the famous Tudor monarch if his aunties Margaret and Pauline’s Instagram account successfully reached over 100,000 followers. With the two aunties following at the time of writing at almost 250,000, Lycett well and truly lost his bet. But he also well and truly delivered on his promise to dress up for the awards ceremony. The irmingham-born comedian turned up at London’s Royal Festival Hall dressed in a huge silver cape, with a detailed accompanying headpiece and with his short hair dyed red.

Joe Lycett posted on Instagram, jokingly asking Who wore it best? Both of his aunts Margaret and Pauline also joined him at the awards show itself to bask in the glory of a bet well won. One thing Lycett had perhaps not bet on at all, however, was that he would not only walk the red carpet dressed as Elizabeth I but also walk up to the main stage to accept a BAFTA award. The performer beat other performers in his category including Graham Norton, Hannah Waddingham and
earlier winners Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan.

To the Best Entertainment Performance prize. Accepting his award, Lycett started his speech by stating, I lost a bet, hence this. I am so hot and I need a p. In his speech, he thanked his parents (jokingly referring to them as Anne Boleyn and Henry VIII). Appreciated his show’s team, and thanked the people of Birmingham before leaving the stage.
