For a few weeks, I had been working away from home and I never could have imagined that an incident like this would happen to me. My house was fully locked because my family members had also temporarily shifted with me to my job site, where I was working on a project. To keep an eye on the house, I had kept a camera on my front door. There were several dogs wandering around the entrance. However, something strange happened the next day.
Yesterday, I saw two puppies wandering in front of my door just like the other dogs. The larger dogs, which were bigger than the puppies, were approaching and continuously barking at them. However, these two small puppies were surprisingly strong for their age and instead of running, they stood their ground and barked back at the larger dogs, which got scared and backed off.
I wondered how these two puppies could be so fearless in the face of the larger dog. I thought it might be because together, they felt strong enough to handle any situation. They stayed outside the door for three to four weeks and I continuously kept an eye on them through the camera. I also noticed that they didn’t have enough food to eat and were always wandering around the door. Perhaps they were afraid that someone would take their place to leave.
I couldn’t bear to see them struggling anymore, as I love animals more than anything. Unfortunately, I couldn’t come to them immediately because I had pending work. So, I called one of my friends who also loves animals asking for their help.
The next day, I called him and he replied that he had immediately started his journey. Since my house was far from his, he wanted to arrive before it was too late. During the journey, we both worried about the puppies. He thought fully bought some food that would be easy to use to attract the puppies and win their trust, as they might have been hungry for days.
After completing his journey, he reached the corner of the street. As he entered the street, he saw that many dogs started barking at him. However, as he approached them one of the puppies saw him from a distance and seemed to recognize him.
As he approached them, one brown dog became shy around humans but the black dog was surprisingly clever and immediately came near him. He offered them food and the black dog smelled it before starting to eat. The other puppy, seeing its friend eating, also began to eat. Both were clearly very hungry and quickly ate the meal. Next, he noticed the spot where they liked to live near the door where I had left some essential items, mostly wooden things outside.
He continuously fed them until they were full and after eating, he provided them with water. They drank thirstily, as if they hadn’t had water in a long time. He also cleaned the area thoroughly for the dogs. However, it was time for him to leave, as the man accompanying him was running late. As the kind men were leaving, the puppies watched them go, perhaps wondering what they would do now that their helper was leaving. They might have felt worried about how to protect themselves from their previous struggles. But my friend promised me that he would continue to care for the puppies until I returned.
The next day, he returned again with food to feed them. When the puppies saw my friend, they became overjoyed and swarmed around him. After eating, the puppies began playing in the grass and now they were no longer afraid of humans.
Every time he was free from work, he would visit the puppies to check if they were alright. After a week, I completed my work and it was time to return home. I was excited to see how the puppies would react when they saw me again.
I continued on my journey and finally, it came to an end. Now, it was time to meet with the puppies and I found myself getting emotional as I saw them. They were wonderly cute and innocent and I pet them very gently and softly.
My eyes filled up with tears as I saw the love they had for me. I had also brought some toys for them to play with and a comfortable bed for them to sleep in. I spent a night with them but the next day, I decided to take them with me to my new home, where we could start a new life together.
I gathered all their essentials and carefully placed them in a plastic bin, continuing our journey. Along the way, we worried that they might jump out of the bin but they remained calm and didn’t show any resistance. Finally, we arrived home at midnight and it was time to rest. I wondered, were the puppies happy in their new home? I had specially designed a bed space for them, where they could live and sleep peacefully.
The next day, after returning from work, I was delighted to see the dogs playing happily and enjoying their new life. The puppies had waited all day for me and when I came back, they greeted me warmly, wagging their tails.
Now, they have a new home and a loving family, which they truly deserved. I thought to myself, shouldn’t all dogs deserve that kind of life? Yes, all animals deserve a life like that, because they are also a part of this world and it’s our responsibility to protect and care for them.
