A Once Happy Dog Tastes Street Life, Hopes Happiness Comes Again

Kelly was a nice dog who really wanted to be loved, but her life was very sad. Her previous master used her to make money and didn’t care about how she felt. He left her when he didn’t need her anymore. Walking the streets, Kelly was hungry and by herself. She hoped someone would be nice to her.

Tough Street Life

The streets were empty, and she hoped someone would see that she needed help and come help her. Kelly still thought there were good people in the world, even though some people had been mean to her. When the Animal Welfare League of Broward County in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, came to help her, things turned out better.

Thanks to a Rescue Team

It made everyone sad to see that she wasn’t getting enough food. Kelly was so sweet when she got to the shelter that the workers loved her right away. The new people she met were eager to find her a real home right away and loved giving her hugs and pet. They knew she would be happy with a family who loved her.

The shelter told her story and shared a film of Kelly in her cage waving her tail and looking hopeful. Someone who wanted their first pet saw the movie and fell in love with Kelly right away. They went to the shelter the next day and told the staff that they wanted to take Kelly home because they loved her so much. The staff was thrilled because they thought Kelly had found a place to live for good.

Adoption Day for Kelly

She was very happy on the day of the adoption. She was glad to say goodbye to her shelter friends. Her new family couldn’t wait to love her and take her home. The happiness didn’t last, though. They learned that one of them was allergic to dogs, so Kelly had to go back to the shelter. She was happy for a short time, but then it was gone.

A Sad Return

She looked very sad when she got back to the rescue. She looks so sad and worried now that she’s back. When we walk by her cage, she cries at us and looks very sad. One person from the Humane Society of Broward County told Newsweek, “It’s very sad.”

She loves how her foster friends take care of her, but what she really wants is a family that will always love her. She wants to experience real love for the first time.

Finally Happy In a Forever Home

Good news! Kelly was taken in by a family who will keep her after her second video was shown. So happy for her! We hope her life is full of happiness and wags.
