I find it amazing how much a haircut can change someone, especially a dog. Dogs that are lost or abandoned often don’t have their fur brushed, which gets tangled and causes them stress.
A lost dog was recently found with so much fur that she “looked like a wig.” Luckily, a rescue group gave her a makeover that made her look completely different.
Mac’s Mission, a Missouri charity that rescues dogs with special needs, recently saved a dog that was badly matted and found in the middle of the road. The dog, whose name was now Pear, was in terrible shape and had thick, matted fur.
The rescue said Pear “didn’t even look like a dog.” They also said she “looked like a wig” and was “just a wad of hair.”
Once the rescue took her in, a group of volunteers started to help Pear get rid of all her fur. They called it a “spa session.”
Rochelle Steffent, head of Rescue, told Newsweek, “We cleaned her up, shaved her, and gave her a bath to get rid of any dirt and fleas.” As soon as she settled into one of our places, she fell asleep.
During the whole process, Pear was very nice and patient: “She was the sweetest and just sat there while we got all the terrible thick matts off of her….which took a while.”
She went on to say that Pear was lucky not to have been in a car accident and that she was glad there were no maggots in her fur. On the other hand, Pear seems to have lost an eyeball in an earlier accident.
Mac’s Mission gave us pictures of Pear before and after her care, which show how well she did in getting better:
The people who saved Pear wrote on Facebook, “Pear has a new life ahead of her thanks to you all.”
It’s hard to believe Pear is the same dog because she looks so beautiful! We’re glad that Mac’s Mission gave this cute dog a much-needed makeover!
