From Stray to Soulmate: The Journey of Palu and Raveen
Raveen And Palu

Raveen’s first brush with Palu occurred on December 8th, while he was on his 700-kilometer trek. He had no notion that he was going to meet his lifelong companion and his soulmate. The stray dog, Palu, was little more than an inquisitive buddy. A man with a beard was walking along the road, and the sight of him piqued her interest immensely.

Raveen, who is 38 years old and hails from Kozhikode, Kerala, completed his journey in a span of seventeen days. It is remarkable that Palu was by his side for the majority of the journey. On December 23, Raveen arrived back home, and Palu was there to greet him. She was sitting in the same seat as him on a KSRTC bus.

When Raveen first started his adventure, he was working for the Kerala State Electricity Board. He started his voyage on December 7. At the beginning, he experienced apprehension regarding the stray dogs that appeared before him. He made numerous attempts to drive them away, but Palu had a different opinion.

Following a distance of around 80 kilometers, Raveen became aware of Palu. While she was approaching him from the opposite direction, she came to a stop. She remained unmoved in spite of Raveen’s efforts to drive her away from the neighborhood. According to Raveen’s recollection, “She walked twenty meters ahead of me, looking back frequently.”

In the course of the days that passed, Palu started following Raveen and frequently sniffing at his feet.

When Raveen realized that his soulmate was not your typical dog, he made the decision to let her stay. Palu’s identity was altered as a result of the adventure; she was given a name and a mudra mala had been placed around her neck. It is from the word “Malikappuram,” which signifies a female devotee of Sabarimala, that the name Palu originates.

Raveen quickly became aware of Palu’s distinctive appearance. As soon as we passed through Kozhikode, I was certain that she would never leave my side.

She will not give up and is quite astute. At times when I needed to take a break for food or bathing, Palu waited patiently for me. During the night, she slept next to me and watched after my thirumudikettu,” he adds with a warm and fuzzy expression.

Whenever Raveen thinks back to the time when Palu served as his alarm, his voice is filled with wonder. Every morning, she was the one who woke him up. Beginning at three in the morning, Raveen’s goal was to walk an average of fifty kilometers per day.

Unfortunately, he was unable to use his phone one morning, and as a result, he decided to sleep in. Palu did not waste any time in getting to work, pulling on his mundu and barking incessantly.

As they worked together to overcome obstacles, their connection grew stronger. Not only was Palu a dog, but she was also his spiritual companion.

While at Pamba, near the shrine, Raveen experienced panic when he lost Palu temporarily. True to her nature, she wandered ahead and waited near the steps leading to the shrine. For the next one and a half days, she patiently awaited Raveen’s return. Devotees from Kozhikode informed him that Palu was sniffing around for him.

โ€œPalu jumped on me the moment she spotted me in the crowd,โ€ Raveen recalls, his eyes lighting up. In that moment, their soulmate connection was undeniable.

An employee of the KSRTC suggested that Raveen meet with the special officer once they had completed their pilgrimage. He desired to see to it that Palu would accompany him on his journey. The officer was overjoyed to hear their account of what happened. Almost immediately, he gave his consent for Palu to travel on the bus with her partner.

For the price of Rs 460, Raveen purchased a ticket for Palu. As soon as they boarded the plane, she dozed off, and she did not come to until they arrived at their destination late that evening.

Currently, Palu has made his home in Raveen’s residence in Beypore, where she is occupying a large cardboard box.

She is really proud of the brown beaded necklace that she is wearing around her neck. The unbreakable tie of soulmate friendship that is created through perseverance and love is symbolized by this simple accessory, which serves as a reminder of the remarkable journey that they have taken together.
