Jenny Leech is a resolute rescuer who derives enormous satisfaction from assisting animals in need, with a particular emphasis on senior and special-needs puppies.
She has devoted her entire life to ensuring that these creatures receive the care and affection they are entitled to, and she has encountered numerous tragic incidents.
Her heart shattered, though, when she learned of a stray puppy hanging out on a quite busy road during the winter.
When the puppy discovered that not a single hooman walked by at his kennel and gave him a spot at their loving home, he gradually sank into sadness even though he was rescued by a shelter in Bellwood, Illinois, and given a comfortable bed.
All of it was shortly to change, though.
New Chapter
Now Chester, the 14-year-old Chihuahua chose to hide from others and withdraw to a kennel corner. Spending much of his time at the Illinois shelter alone by himself, he dreamed of his ideal life in a contented house with loving hoomans.
But one day B.A.A.R.K. Dog Rescue came upon the small depressed puppy and chose to turn his life around. Leech helped them to get Chester a temporary residence, therefore enabling him to at last feel loved and valued.
Along with her gang of older dogs, ready to provide their new sibling undivided attention, Leech was quite happy to welcome Chester into her house.
He is a little off on the seeing and hearing, has some lumps and bumps, and has long nails. Leech posted on Facebook, “After a bath, he joined the ‘Chi Mafia’ effortlessly and is walking around with the big guys like he owns the place.”
Chester got a complete medical examination before to Leech’s care and revealed a significant heart murmur along with a set of decaying teeth. Chester, though, refused to let his medical situation interfere with his just discovered pleasure.
Leech posted, ” [He’s] the cutest little old man with the stinkiest breath ever.”
One Day At A Time
Chester fortunately soon underwent a thorough dental cleaning and started heart problem medication, therefore improving his quality of life. And Chester passed abruptly right after Leech began to get acceptance offers.
Chester was not doing very well and it was discovered via additional tests that he also had a renal infection. Fortunately, the physicians were able to steady him; still, this incident made Leech have to make a somewhat difficult decision.
She knew he would be better off staying with her, even if she would have dearly wanted to see the pup in a house of his own. Leech felt Chester would be safest in her care, having so much expertise tending to senior dogs.
“Tonight he hung with the team, begged in the kitchen, and ate a nice dinner to show us he was glad to be here. Leech posted on Facebook: “It’s not the happily-ever-after we pictured for him, but we are honored to be his permanent family.”
Final Word
Leech loves every minute she spends with this very strong dog, even though at first she had no intention of having Chester be a foster fail. Every day she watches him closely and makes sure his therapies are kept up to date to keep him healthy and content.
Chester wouldn’t have it any other way; this once homeless, miserable pup is now part of a huge family ensuring he is living his best life ever!
“Here’s the best part of lifetime for tiny Chester…” Leech came to finish.
